RESTORATIONS OR FILLINGS
We only use white composite materials to restore carious teeth. With the advance in dental science these material are found to be as strong as amalgam or silver fillings with the same life expectancy.
Composite fillings allow us to remove less of the natural tooth, therefore preserving more tooth for support of the filling and less chance of failure of the restoration. The composite material is chemically bonded to the tooth surface which decreases leakage around the filling and prolongs the life of the restoration.
In addition the fillings are tooth colored so that they in most cases they blend in with the tooth and cannot be seen. As you can see the amalgam fillings were replaced with composite and the restorations are natural looking.
